Thanks, guys! Kristen, Elene obviously took very good care of my boy. :-) A few people said he looks just a touch thin, but I'm sure poor Elene was just throwing food at him like crazy to keep weight on him in the Arctic Chicago weather. Heck, I remember throwing TONS of food at him to keep his weight down here -- these TBs are not known for being easy keepers!! Overall, he's doing really well and has obviously had very good care. And, yeah, I do think he's happy to see me again! :-) Yesterday, I spent six hours fussing over him, which he loooooooves!
This started as the training journal of Salem, a 5 year old Thoroughbred gelding, as he progressed from Total Greenie to Slightly Less Green-ie.
After six months with me, Salem went up to his owner Raffie outside of Chicago. Her goal was to make him into her dressage horse.
Sadly, Raffie passed away in March of 2011 and Salem made the journey back down to me. While I'm thrilled to have him back, I wish it were under better circumstances.
Neither Salem nor I have the desire (or the talent) to be dressage superstars. Eventually, I'd like him to be my trail-riding, hunter/jumper eventer; but for now, I'm just content that he's safe with me.

Frizzle, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm glad that Salem made it to you safe and sound. Rest in Peace Raffie. Thinking of you!
Glad to hear that Salem made it back to you.

I was worried he'd be thin and lack of muscle but he looks pretty damn good :)
Is he sooo happy to see you again?
Thanks, guys!
