In what world...

is this:

(3 year old 16.2 hand OTTB gelding named Omega Cipher)

$1,389.000 cheaper than this:

(17.5" two-year-old used CWD saddle)
?

Inquiring minds want to know! Part of me thinks I should just skip the saddle and buy the horse (although at least the saddle would not require several hundred dollars a month in upkeep...).

And, yes, I am currently used-saddle-shopping...and am getting a bit frustrated, as you can see. ;-)

I have wondered the same things countless times...
Of course, my advice is to skip the saddle, buy Mr. Fancy, and then go back to saddle shopping. But I of course am no help, lol!

Buy the pony!!! You need someone to fuss over and I need to read your fussings!

Sorry to be super needy. Are your riding now?

Hahahha, you guys are total enablers! Enablers, I say! ;-) It's alright; I feel completely the same way. Lol. Unfortunately, I am poor as a little church- mouse right now, so I can't afford to support a horse at the moment (especially not in the way that I am accustomed to, with massage, chiro, extra hay, etc.).

My Vote...THE HORSE of course! And then, just ride bareback!

That is crappy. But that horse does have a horrible hip and croup, so the saddle would be a better buy.

But he is so cuuuute, Solo (sorry, I just can't seem to call you eventer79 -- ??). Yes, I am continually blinded by the cuteness factor.

Hahhahaha, handicapped by cuteness! There are worse flaws!

Warning! Hippy comment ahead!!
Just out of curiosity, are you looking into any of the synthetic brands (nudge hard toward Wintec...)?
No animals were harmed in the making of this comment. :)
And don't worry. I am blinded by cuteness, but even more so by eyes. I wasn't sold on Bailey until she looked at me with "that look". The horse could be built like a camel, but as long as that eye is there, I am sold!

Ugh..I'm blinded by the same light! What a chest on that boy, though..holy! Buy a pony (maybe not that one due to above comments..not that I would know) and keep searching for a saddle..I searched for abt a year and found a BEAUTIFUL crosby for $300! It can be done!

Alana, you know I am a fellow hippy, so no worries, lol. Yes, I've looked into Wintecs, but I'm not really a fan (rode in a few, and didn't like 'em). Plus, I think most of them have CAIR panels, which are yucky. As much as I am a vegetarian tree-hugger and HATE the idea of leather, here's how I have rationalized it: unfortunately, I will never see the end of animal slaughter in my lifetime, so as long as they're killing the cow, they might as well use the WHOLE cow. I will NOT buy calf leather, though, as that is just too cruel. Poor little baby cows!
I'm not sure if the used saddle thing is gonna work, so I might have to buy new. :-(
Kristen, yes, that boy has quite a lovely chest! And cute white feet, which make me go, "Aaaaaawwww."

I agree with "the eye". Salems doing well jumped his first course and getting ready for a frank madden clinic here in a little more than a month :)

Ami,
THANK YOU for the Salem update! I have been absolutely dying to hear some news about him. I'm glad to hear that he's doing so well.
:-)

I must say, I'm surprised to hear that he's jumping, as I thought he was meant to be a dressgae horse (???). But I saw him jump around in Ocala and he was pretty chill about it.

If you have any pics and/or videos of Salem, I would love to see them! Thanks again!
