Helmets Required for Dressage Riders

http://www.dressage-news.com/?p=19719

From the article:

Helmets only will be the rule for ALL United States Equestrian Federation events, including for senior riders in Grand Prix and small tour events, effective April 1 this year, though senior riders in International Equestrian Federation (FEI) CDIs will still be allowed to wear top hats.

This is great news and a real step forward for the sport. It's terrible that it took such a tragic accident as Courtney King Dye's to change the rules, but at least something positive came out of it.

(Sidenote: Yes, Salem and I are still alive. Just don't really have anything terribly exciting to report (yet!))

Easy solution to stretch marks: DON'T MAKE BABIEZ. lol.

I do like this rule, but seriously, exceptions? No helmet if you are in CDI, no helmet if you wear a cowboy hat, no helmet if your eyes are green. Sigh. USEF, grow a set!

But progress is progress. Although I can't believe...oh wait yes I can, it's just embarrassing...dressage people are complaining. Oohhhh, my hat...it's ok, you still get to wear your silly butler jacket and a napkin around your neck. My fantasy is someday we get to wear SPORT clothes for our SPORT!

Rofl, spam can sometimes be QUITE amusing! ;-)

Yeah, eventer, I started a thread on COTH about this and some of the people were super pissed and saying, "But I spend eight hundred DOLLARS on my top hat and now I'll never get to wear it, boooohooohooooo, sob, sniff, whaaaaaaaaaaa!" Yeah, seriously--put on your funny-looking 17th-century magician's outfit with your clingy white pants and have a fun time.

I do agree that the USEF should just get it over with and say that ALL riders at ALL events, even the reiners, MUST wear helmets at all times @ competitions. And FEI should do the same. Don't know if that will ever happen, though.

Well! After the helmet law implementation in some states, this law is also a positive step by the USA government.
