Thanks for the ...Aawww, you guys are all too sweet! Thanks for the support and encouragement -- it really does lift my spirits! :-D
Yesterday, I went to the feedstore to pick up some dog food (it's called "Taste of The Wild," LOL) and one of the guys who brings the stuff to your car was like, "What's wrong, sweetie? You don't look happy today." Geez, I thought I was all cool as a cucumber, but apparently even the feedstore guys can tell I'm still not myself.
Alana, I am not looking for a Salem clone, but something very, very similar. Ideally, I would like a tall, big-bodied TB gelding (cuz Salem is 17 hands and I make him look small, despite the fact that I am only 5'7"), with a lot of girth and bone. Kind of more of a Warmblood build, like Salem. Something young-ish would be perfect, ideally between 4 and 6, with decent conformation and a good attitude. I would prefer the horse to not have too many races under his belt, but as long as he is sound, that is totally not a dealbreaker.
It's going to be a little while before I get another horse. Thankfully, I remembered that my trimmer/equine masseuse lady Candy used to work on a lot of racing TBs and I'm sure she has tons of contacts at the track. She's really an awesome person to know!
Thanks again, guys! I really love our little horsey blogging community and certainly want to remain a part of it.Frizzlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03084225669041286128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6595584700754159703.post-83009531498760903162010-04-13T20:13:25.815-05:002010-04-13T20:13:25.815-05:00Sniff, Sniff, trembly lower lip...hugging my ponie...Sniff, Sniff, trembly lower lip...hugging my ponies until they feel like their heads might pop off...
I am so sorry, but as others said, he knows you love him! I think you would be doing us all a favor if you blogged about information and research until you fall into your new horsie partner.

BTW-- I'm sure Salem knows you love him. You set him up for a really great future with Ruby.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08558668876103778821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6595584700754159703.post-8781056290869463222010-04-12T15:40:11.780-05:002010-04-12T15:40:11.780-05:00:'( At least you had some warning before he wa...:'( At least you had some warning before he was gone. I feel very sad about it, even though the pictures of him in this post make him look like a total superstar and I should feel happy you gave him such a stellar send off. I didn't even know him and I'm really sad for you. I know there will be other horses...but I still feel sad.baystatebrumbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00157539477153261305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6595584700754159703.post-54089219135991004042010-04-11T09:25:26.503-05:002010-04-11T09:25:26.503-05:00Aww, I was going to give you hell for not posting ...Aww, I was going to give you hell for not posting for so long, but now I totally understand. It is hard to say goodbye to animal friends, even if you know they are going to be happy and healthy.

I second the informational posts - for example, I'm going to be horse shopping this fall, so could you do something on pre-purchase exams?mollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05472598624000499541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6595584700754159703.post-52499934783162525272010-04-11T01:19:34.853-05:002010-04-11T01:19:34.853-05:00I'm so sorry that your time with Salem is up a...I'm so sorry that your time with Salem is up already. I know he'll be happy in his new home, but it must be bittersweet. I hope you do continue to post, even if it is informational. Do you have a friend's horse or school horse that you can ride in the meantime? Any horse buying plans of your own in the next year or so?

I can definitely relate to how you are feeling right now. The rescue gelding that I really bonded with before Lily came home, and whom I continued to brush up my skills with afterwards, was adopted out really suddenly. I didn't get to have a goodbye ride on him or anything, and it broke my heart a little. I guess that's the downside to loving animals.Annihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07543780085185559824noreply@blogger.com
